The camp site in the town Ólafsvík is at the eastern side of the town. When arriving from Fróðárheiði, Grundarfjörður or Reykjavík you will see it on the left side just before entering the town. The facilities are quite good with a small service house with hot and cold running water, toilets and shower.
Electricity is in the camp site as well as a playground. The area is flat and with a fence around it. It is about 10 minutes walk into town and 15 minutes walk to the swimming pool. There are many good walking paths in the area. The camp site is operated by the Tourist information center that is located in town. The camp site offers wifi service.
Ólafsvík has about 1000 residents and the fishing industry and the harbour are an important role in the town. The area is very beautiful with waterfall coming down behind the town. There is a fine museum in an old retail house in town, the house was built in 1844 and is located in the center of town. In town there is a gas station, retail stores, swimming pool, mueseum, a health care, post office and more services.
