Egilsstaðir Campsite is open all year round with toilet and shower facilities open 24/7. The campsite is well located in the towns center close to all the main shops and service.
Egilsstaðir is a small town in eastern Iceland and is also called the capital of east Iceland. The population in the area is 4600 people. There are many stores and services in the town. There are a lot of attraction in the area with natural beauty all around. That makes Egilsstaðir a great destination with the possibility of taking day trips to many places in eastern Iceland. It is a short trip to the forest Hallormsstaðaskógur, to the town Seyðisfjörður and many more. Hot tubs and springs nearby are Vök Baths only 4 km distance and Laugarfell on the highlands, north of Mt. Snæfell. Nearest cave can be found behind Fardagafoss, in 5 minutes drive distance.
Service available at the campsite is excellent with access to electricity, toilets and showers, facilities for dish washing, washing machines and dryers and a playground for the children. There is a jumping pillow at Tjarnargardur in 2 minutes driving distance. There are 2 stoves in a sheltered area where you can cook as well as the campground offers kitchen facilities inside with stoves, kettle, microwawe and toaster. Inside you will also find a big cozy room to sit down open 24/7 . It is also possible to rent a bicycle and borrow a hairdryer.
In the campsites service center you´ll find Egilsstaðastofa Visitor Center where you can get information about the area and buy ice cream, coffee/tea and maps and books from the area. The service room was renovated in the beginning of year 2022 and is now much bigger and better than before so it is easy to say that Camp Egilsstaðir offers excellent facilites for our guests, open 24/7 all year round. From the begginning of June to the end of August the info center is open all days between 07.00 – 23.00. Shorter opening hours during other months.
