The camp site at Grenivík is located in a good location in northern Iceland. The facilities at the camp site are also good.
The camp site at Grenivík was all renewed in 2011 and there is now a new service house with access for the disabled. There is also now access to electricity, shower and hot and cold running water. It also has a washbasin. The camp site is free for children younger than 16 years.
The sports center has a new 16,67 meters long swimming pool, a hot tub, a gym and a sports hall.
In the village there is a football field and a playground. There is also a restaurant, a grocery store, gas station, healthcare (460-4600) and a bank with an ATM. During the summer time the fishing museum at Grenivík is open.
Close to the village is also the golf course at Hvammur and the car workshop Birni (+354 463 3172). It is also possible to rent a horse at Pólarhestar. The old farm Laufás is an turf house where it is possible to see how people in Iceland live before. Laufás has been vicarage since Iceland accepted christendom in the year around the year 1.100. There are also many walking paths close to the camp site.
