Heiðarbær

Heiðarbær is an ideal place for families in a peaceful environment where there is a playground with a bouncy castle, swings, and football goals. At Heiðarbær there is a restaurant, bar, swimming pool, and hot tub. You can get pizzas, hamburgers, light meals, ice cream, and coffee.

Heiðarbær is located between Húsavík and Mývatn on Route 87. It's a short distance to many of the most popular tourist destinations in the northeastern part of the country. Ásbyrgi 40 km, Jökulsárgljúfur 79 km, Mývatn 33 km, Goðafoss 29 km, Þeistareykir 49 km, and Húsavík 20 km.

Description of facilities

On the other side of the road from Heiðarbær are Hveravellir, one of the oldest horticultural stations in the country, where you can buy vegetables on weekdays from 8-12 and 13-16. There is also Ystihver there, which you can walk to, and it's the largest hot spring in North Iceland.

Fjallasýn by Rúnar Óskarsson offers bus and jeep tours through our beautiful countryside. More information at fjallasyn.is.
Saltvík horse rental is 15 km toward Húsavík and offers fun and unique horse tours ranging from one hour up to day trips. More information at saltvik.is.

Skarðaborg is a farm right nearby that sells sheep and lamb meat directly from the farm. Orders by phone 892-0559.
All other general services and entertainment are in Húsavík, which is 20 km away from Heiðarbær.
