The camp site in Sandfellsskógur is a nice camp site that is mostly in a small forest. There is a small creek that goes through the camp site and keeps the children busy playing for hours. There are many nice walking paths nearby.
The camp site is located in a vast area covered in trees. The area is suitable for tents and folding campers, families and playful children. There are tables in the area with benches. The creek Króklækurinn runs through the area with a lot of adventures for the smallest guests.
The bathrooms has toilets, showers, outdoor sinks with hot and cold water.
The travel service at Stóra – Sandfell is in the valley Skriðdalur, about 17 km south from Egilsstaðir. It is located near highway no 95 that goes from Egilstaðir to Höfn when driving over Öxi or Breiðdalsheiði. The accommodation that is available is in small cottages, rooms or camp site.
It is also possible to go horseback riding in the forest as well as finding many walking paths in the area. It is a short distance to all of the major tourist attractions in East Iceland.

Teenagers 14 – 17 years when travelling with adults.: 1.500 ISK
