The campsite offers electricity for motorhomes and caravans for a fee. It's possible to empty chemical toilets and wash dishes at outdoor sinks. Five toilets and four showers are available on site, with great emphasis placed on keeping the facilities clean and tidy. Guests can eat packed meals under cover in two small lounges, or outside on the deck when weather permits. The lounges also offer phone and laptop charging facilities. Tables and benches are located throughout the campsite for dining and relaxation. The newly built service house features a heated lounge with cooking facilities. The building also houses washing machines and dryers available for use at a charge. Accessibility for disabled guests has improved significantly with the addition of the new building.
Various recreational activities are available in the immediate vicinity of the campsite, including a 9-hole golf course (Ekkjufellsvöllur), the new bathing area at Lake Urriðavatn, Vök Baths, trout fishing, the swimming pool in Egilsstaðir, and horse rentals.
From Skipalækur, it's only 69 km to the famous Stuðlagil canyon in Jökuldal and just 33 km to Hengifoss in Fljótsdal, Iceland's second-highest waterfall, which is becoming one of the most visited tourist destinations in East Iceland. It's also worth mentioning that Borgarfjörður Eystri is 73 km away, where puffins nest at Hafnarhólmi and visitors can observe the bird colony up close without disturbing their daily life.RetryClaude can make mistakes.
