The Tungudalur camping site is Isafjordurs main camping site. A great deal of work has been completed on the site in effort to enhance its natural beauty and services provided. The site is covered in and around by trees that give shelter on windy days.

Description of facilities

Isafjordur is the largest town in the Westfjords peninsula. Isafjordur municipiality was established on June 1st 1996 when 6 smaller municipalities where merged into one (Flateyrarhreppur, Isafjordur, Mosvallahreppur, Myrahreppur, Sudureyrarhreppur og Thingeyrarhreppur).

The camp site Tungudalur is in about 900 m distance from the road Skutulsfjarðarbraut. The waterfall Bunárfoss lies through the camp site and divides it in two parts. One part is ment for mobile homes, folding campers and caravans. The other part is meant for tents.
The camp site has two service houses. The older one has the reception, toilets and a shower. The newer one was built in 2011. It has toilets, showers, a toilet with a shower for the disabled and a washing facilites with a washing machine and a tumble dryer. It also has a kitchen with cooking facilites, microwave oven, toaster and tables and chairs.
