The camp site is sheltered and good family camp site. It should be quiet around midnight. Recently the camp site is now divided in two areas. There are excellent facilities for children such as football field, three playground and one with a monkey swing.
The swimming pool has hot tubs and a water slide. The summeropening time is from 10:00 – 19:00 during the weekend and 14:00 – 21:00 during the weekdays. The camp site has an outdoor barbecue, waste disposal, electricity and much more. Dogs are allowed at Laugaland provided that they are kept in a leash and of course that the owners clean up after them.
Activities The surroundings at Laugaland are beautiful and it is ideal to go on walks around the area. There is a marked path from Laugalandi to the forestry field in the area. It is good to take a picnic bag with on that walk ans use the outdoor tables in the forest. The walk there and back is about 5 km long. The church area Marteinstunga is in about 1,5 km walking distance from Laugaland. The horse ranch is also in walking distance (4 km) where you can see old saddlery, see videos about the Icelandic horse, pet and comb the horses and the children can try to go horseback riding under supervision.
The tourism area Leirubakki is about 25 km away. At Leirubakki there is a hotel, restaurant and a gas station. There is also the beautiful museum Heklusetur about the volcano Hekla. The biggest manmade cave in Iceland is about 18 km from Laugaland. It is located at the farm Hellum and is a popular sight to see. A horse rental is in four different locations, Skeiðvöllum (5 km), Hestheimar (7 km) , Kálfholti (18 km) and Leirubakki (25 km). From Laugalandi to the next village Hella is about 14 km where you can find all services. To the golf course Strönd is about 18 km.
