The Heydalur camping site is located 130km from Isafjordur, 110km from Holmavik and 100km from Bjarkarlundur. Once you arrive into the valley you drive 12 km to the camping site that is located by the hotel. The site is well maintained, in a pieceful area far away from traffic and close to the river Heydalsa. In the valley you’ll find beautiful canyons and waterfalls.
At the camp site there is a bath house with hot water, showers and flushing toilets. There are number of electricy plugs for RV’s and trailers. On the other side of the river Heydalsa there is a natural hot tub. A small indoor pool in a greenhouse with hot tubs outside. A playground is available for children and young adults. In the surrounding area there is a great opportunity to enjoy the natures true beauty.
In the spring the bird life is spectacular. You can find information plates that tell you more about the bird life in the area. The Terna is loud and rowdy protecting its eggs. The king of birds, the Eagle, is gliding and laying eggs in the area. Ducks are swimming in the river and the Red-throated diver in the bay.
Close to the town there is a restaurant offering a variety of dishes. The restaurant uses a great deal of ingredients brought in from the surrounding farms. Also there is a talking peacock, kayaks to rent and horse back riding tours to take.
Rate for adults: 1.500 Isk. kr. Every fourth night free.
Rate for children: Free of charge for children under the age of 12.
