Laugarhóll í Bjarnarfirði

The campsite has water and toilets. Hotel Laugarholl is near and next to the hotel you will find The Pool of Gvendur the good, a naturally warm geothermal outdoor swimming pool (32-35°C) and adjacent natural hot pool (41°C), perfect for relaxing after a long day on the road or hiking in the wilderness. Nearby is the waterfall Goðafoss and Sorcerer’s Cottage.

Hótel Laugarhóll is very central in the Strandir area and a great place to stay whilst exploring the beautiful wilderness of Strandir, the eastern-most part of the Westfjords. If staying only for a few days you can go on a number of shorter day tours through neighboring regions in this remote and of the beaten track area.

For example drive up north to Árneshreppur, the smallest farming community in Iceland, and take a swim in the must see, warm swimming pool at the edge of the arctic ocean in Krossnes (80 km). On your way back to Laugarholl explore the ghostly herring factory in Djúpavík (44 km), don´t forget to bring your camera. A 15 min boat trip from Drangsnes (15 km) to admire the lovely puffins in Grímsey island and do some sea angling on the way back is a wonderful experience, www.malarhorn.is.

Also Hike through the mountains, exploring beautiful waterfalls or just have a relaxing stroll and bird watching on the riverbank of Bjarnarfjarðará river.

To go whale watching from Hólmavík or horseback riding with Strandahestar, visit the eiderdown museum or the seaweed baths in Reykhólar, or drive for one hour and hike for an other to expolre Kaldalón and Drangjökull is great.
